is concerned especially with the Suites for cello solo and the Partitas and Sonatas for violin solo by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The ideas which Bach develops in these works are so original that they are still current – or one could simply say: they are timeless.
Nevertheless, contemporary music goes so far beyond it that the alternative blog „the cello upgrade“ devotes itself to new music for cello.

I would like to encourage those concerned to exchange experiences and ideas about all this. It doesn’t stop at national borders but it is a cross-border project. Hence in this blog, no language (English, German, French) takes preference over any other. I myself will write mainly in German. Therefore, I would like to encourage the individual contributions being translated once in a while by the users of this blog, to the advantage of all.
I ask users to express themselves as concisely as possible specifically referring to what this blog says. If it is linked to an external content, this should be explained. So, no promotions or simple concert announcements, please. For such information please use the forums on Facebook etc.
By sending their contributions the authors transfer copyright to the blog operator. I. e., the texts are freely quotable at full length, provided the author is named. All author’s rights remain of course with the authors.

befaßt sich intensiv mit den Suiten für Cello solo und den Partiten und Sonaten für Violine solo von Johann Sebastian Bach.
Die Ideen, die Bach in diesen Werken entwickelt, sind derart einzigartig, daß sie nach wie vor zeitgemäß – oder sagen wir einfach: zeitlos sind.
Trotzdem geht die zeitgenössische Musikproduktion weit darüber hinaus, so daß sich das komplementäre Blog „the cello upgrade“ der Neuen Musik für Cello widmet.

Ich möchte dazu ermutigen, Erfahrungen und Gedanken zu diesen Themenkomplexen auszutauschen. Dies macht vor Ländergrenzen keinen Halt. Deshalb wird in diesem Blog auch keine Sprache (Englisch, Deutsch, Französisch) bevorzugt oder festgelegt. Ich selbst werde vorwiegend auf Deutsch schreiben. Anregen möchte ich deshalb, daß die einzelnen Beiträge hin und wieder von den Nutzern dieses Blogs übersetzt werden, zum Vorteil aller Beteiligten.
Ich bitte das Motto „Substanz in Kürze” zu beachten. Damit meine ich, daß eigenständige Beiträge, spezifisch auf dieses Blog bezogene Inhalte erwünscht sind. Sollte einmal auf einen externen Inhalt verlinkt werden, so wäre das zu erklären. Also bitte keine Promotion betreiben oder bloße Konzertankündigungen mitteilen. Hierfür dienen die Foren auf Facebook etc.
