is concerned especially with the Suites for cello solo and the Partitas and Sonatas for violin solo by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The ideas which Bach develops in these works are so original that they are still current – or one could simply say: they are timeless.
Nevertheless, contemporary music goes so far beyond it that the alternative blog „the cello upgrade“ devotes itself to new music for cello.

I would like to encourage those concerned to exchange experiences and ideas about all this. It doesn’t stop at national borders but it is a cross-border project. Hence in this blog, no language (English, German, French) takes preference over any other. I myself will write mainly in German. Trotzdem geht die zeitgenössische Musikproduktion weit darüber hinaus, so daß sich das komplementäre Blog „the cello upgrade“ der Neuen Musik für Cello widmet.

Ich möchte dazu ermutigen, Erfahrungen und Gedanken zu diesen Themenkomplexen auszutauschen. Dies macht vor Ländergrenzen keinen Halt. Deshalb wird in diesem Blog auch keine Sprache (Englisch, Deutsch, Französisch) bevorzugt oder festgelegt. Ich selbst werde vorwiegend auf Deutsch schreiben. Anregen möchte ich deshalb, daß die einzelnen Beiträge hin und wieder von den Nutzern dieses Blogs übersetzt werden, zum Vorteil aller Beteiligten.
