Fis-Dur), indem die Terz d zu dis (respektive a zu ais) erh\u00f6ht wird. Offen bleibt, ob diese fl\u00fcchtige halbt\u00f6nige Verschiebung das harmonische Gewicht einer Zwischendominante besitzt, welche zur Subdominante <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">(e-moll bzw. h-moll) f\u00fchren k\u00f6nnte.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00c4hnlich verh\u00e4lt es sich mit der Note ais (respektive eis) im 1. Teil. Auch hier stellt sich die Frage, ob sie als Terz der Durdominante fungiert oder lediglich eine melodische Intensivierung des Ganztonschritts h &#8211; a (respektive fis &#8211; e) erwirkt, da noch im selben Takt die Aufl\u00f6sung zur Note a (bzw. e) erfolgt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Die elegische Melodie steht im Kontrast zum Titel des Volkslieds, denn ein buntes, quirliges Getr\u00e4ller von V\u00f6geln, der Liedtext z\u00e4hlt 32 Vogelarten auf, l\u00e4\u00dft diese kaum assoziieren. Sie will ebenso nicht recht zur inhaltlichen Aussage des Lieds passen, die eine Lobpreisung der Geburt Jesu und die Freude dar\u00fcber darstellt, welche die V\u00f6gel untereinander kommunizieren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Die Umarbeitung f\u00fcr ein solistisches Streichinstrument f\u00fcgt das Weihnachtslied in komplexe Zusammenkl\u00e4nge ein. Ausgehend vom Tonraum der Molltonika h-moll (fis-moll), der Durtonika H-dur (Fis-Dur) und der Paralleltonart D-dur (A-Dur) werden Zwischen- und Obert\u00f6ne erweckt, welche sich vom traditionellen tonalen Kontext abl\u00f6sen, um eine au\u00dfertonale Wirklichkeit entstehen zu lassen. It remains an open question whether this fleeting chromatic alteration possesses the harmonic weight of a secondary dominant leading to the subdominant (E minor or B minor).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A similar situation occurs with the note A-sharp (respectively E-sharp) in the first part. Here, too, one may ask whether it functions as the third of the major dominant chord or merely intensifies melodically the whole-tone descent from B to A (respectively F-sharp to E), since the resolution to A (or E) follows within the same measure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The elegiac melody stands in contrast to the title of the folk song. One hardly associates it with the colorful and lively chirping of birds, although the song text enumerates thirty-two species. Nor does the melody seem entirely consistent with the song&#8217;s subject matter: the praise of the birth of Jesus and the joy that the birds communicate among themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The arrangement for a solo string instrument places the Christmas carol within a complex web of sonorities. Starting from the tonal space defined by the minor tonic B minor (F-sharp minor), the major tonic B major (F-sharp major), and the relative major D major (A major), intermediate and overtone-derived pitches are awakened that gradually detach themselves from the traditional tonal framework, giving rise to an extra-tonal reality. The introductory dissonances added before the folk song, together with the overtone intervals appended after it, reinforce the minor third D (A), which emerges as a difference tone, and lead ultimately to the relative major D major (A major).
