“BACH.Bogen, a companion to many out of this world sonic adventures be it polyphony, textures or exploration of extreme dynamics to name but a few. And in twenty years of usage it has lost one hair! What more can one ask? BACH.Bogen for ever!”

“If you are curious, I am experimenting with a new instrument, a 12 string electric arpeggione- you can see the picture. Obviously it would be beneficial to play this instrument with one of your bows. Thank you so much.”

“When I met Mstislav Rostropovich the last time in Japan he said about the BACH.Bow: ‘Yes, I know, I know, it’s a wonderful bow.'”

Hitoshi Ando
Cellist / Yokohama

“I just opened up the bow today and spent an hour playing…I love it. It’s already opened up entirely new worlds. 🙂
The instrument has 6 main strings. I can easily bow 4 at a time… and 6 is the holy grail
(I can do 6 as an effect, but haven’t gotten consistent yet).
When the 12 sympathetic strings get going it’s really amazing. The bow has opened up entire new universes! I have an idea for activating the bi-tones on the main strings (the length of string between the nut and my fretting hand)…this will require the application of some incredible magnet technology by my friend Paul Vo. If we can do this, there could be 24 pitches playing simultaneously!

What an amazing thing. The bow has become a very big part of my musical life”

I have been performing with a BACH.Bow for some 20 years. It is a wonderful addition to realising new works for the cello, creating many harmonic and sonic possibilties. I have to this date commissioned over 10 new works for the curved bow. I do not play any baroque music, such as J. S.  Bach with this bow, I solely use it for contemporary works and improvisation.

“The BACH.Bogen has made me completely rethink the instrument. The viola da gamba now becomes a chordal instrument, much like the lirone, and the creative possibilities are limitless, as much in traditional as in contemporary music.”

“Adding the BACH.Bogen to my musical toolkit has given me incredible flexibility. Not only can I sustain three and four note chords, but I’ve noticed more flexibility in my bow hold from switching between a traditional grip and the different grips I use for the BACH.Bogen.”
